‘몸이라는 섬WMLAlive’은 ‘살아있음은 무엇으로 정의되는가?(What Makes Life Alive)’라는 질문으로 몸과 현존감의 관계를 고민합니다. ‘몸이라는 섬’은 ‘살아있다고 생각한 것이 죽었다’거나 죽어있다고 생각한 것이 살아있다’고 판단하는 각자의 개인적인 경험과 근거 그리고 그 근거를 촉발하는 과정의 흥미에서 시작합니다. 생물과 무생물의 경계에서 어떠한 근거로 우리는 ‘그 몸’을 살아있다고 생각하는지, 또는 살아있지 않다고, 또는 살아있었던 적조차 없던 것으로 생각하는지 묻고자 합니다. 이번 전시는 무생물의 유령성으로 존재증거로서의 몸과 살아있음에 대해 이야기하려는 시도의 과정입니다.
’The Island of Body:WMLAlive' explores the relationship between the body and presence through the question 'What Makes Life Alive?' 'The Island of Body' begins with an interest in each person's individual experiences and grounds for determining that 'what was thought to be alive is dead' or 'what was thought to be dead is alive,' as well as the process that triggers these judgments. At the boundary between the living and the non-living, I ask what grounds lead us to think 'that body' is alive, not alive, or has never been alive at all. This exhibition is an attempt to discuss the body as evidence of existence and what it means to be alive, through the spectrality of inanimate objects.
